The UK looks set to adopt new speed-limiting technology following a provisional EU agreement.
From 2022, every new car, van, bus and truck could feature “Intelligent Speed Assistance”, which uses GPS, sign-recognition cameras and mapping software to automatically slow down speeding vehicles. EU leaders signed off on the technology this week and the Department for Transport says the UK will also follow the system. Advocates say the new technology will save thousands of lives, though there are concerns about whether it works effectively
