Darryl Keen QFSM DL

Retired Chief Fire Officer, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue
Until July 2021 Darryl was the Hertfordshire County Council Director of Community Protection and Chief Fire Officer and was an operational fire officer for over 30 years. During his service Darryl was the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Strategic Lead for Operational Communications and led work with British Telecom and all of the emergency services to replace the UK's 999/112 infrastructure.
During his career Darryl worked on a number of fire service control programmes and was the Chair of the East Coast and Hertfordshire Control Room Consortium which delivered a networked Mobilising system for Hertfordshire, Humberside, Lincolnshire and Norfolk FRS.
Far from retiring Darryl has continued to work as a volunteer member of the national 999/112 Liaison Committee which he previously chaired and is pleased to have become a trustee of BAPCO through which he will continue to support develop of work leading emergency call handling and communications for the public and emergency services in the UK.
Outside of work Darryl is a keen cyclist, skier and walker and is a Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire.
