British APCO is proud to offer free membership for colleagues working in the following areas:

• All current Public Safety employees
• Government staff associated with resilience/public safety
• Volunteers of bona fide Public Safety & First Responder organisations

“Public Safety Organisations” shall mean those agencies or departments of central or local government, which provide services concerned with:

• Law enforcement
• Fire and emergency rescue
• Medical and ambulance services
• Emergency call handling
• Civil resilience responders
• Emergency management and other related activities designed to provide services to the public in an emergency or disaster situation
• Bona fide volunteer aid organisations which are recognised as such with support or endorsement by central or local government

We have members representing the following sectors:

• Police
• Fire
• Ambulance
• Martitime and Coastguard Agency
• Government
• Highways
• Utilities
• Volunteer Organisations (e.g., British Red Cross)
• Military

Becoming an academic member of British APCO enables you to be part of a growing community of public safety technology and communications professionals dedicated to improving public safety.  As part of our community you can access our network of specialists, users, suppliers and regulators to ensure that you can access vital current information on issues such as Airwave, ESN, MAIT, eCall and much much more.

Academic membership is relevant to those studying degrees or researching in fields such as Public Safety & Security, Policing, Policing & Criminal Justice Studies, Police Sciences and Criminology & Police Studies.  However, it is relevant to all degree programmes and research areas with an element of Public Safety or Technology (e.g. Computer Sciences, Sociology, Geography, Psychology etc.).

Membership is free and we look forward to welcoming you to our ever evolving and advancing association!

Commercial Membership is available on an individual basis (the individual is the British APCO member, not the organisation they represent), with membership running for 12 months from the date of payment. 

Commercial Membership is aimed at individuals who are either employed or self-employed in commercial activities and business, developing or producing communications and information technology, or advising/providing consultation and/or advisory services on such.  

As well receiving all of our core member benefits, Commercial Members can expect multiple opportunities to network with the Public Safety user community at our events – both physical and on-line – and have an equal voice in what you would like to see from your Association.

Corporate Membership runs for one year—organisations are welcome to sign up at any point in time during the year to avail of their annual entitlements.
